Ottawa Hardscaping: Picking the Right Paver Material

Picking pavers is a big part of any Ottawa hardscaping project. Last week we discussed colour considerations.  This week, we go into what materials choices you have for your Ottawa hardscaping paver choices.

Before we get into the myriad of materials for your Ottawa hardscaping project, keep in mind that in general smaller pavers are used for smaller areas and larger driveways and courtyards provide an opportunity to use larger pavers.

Bricks
Bricks are of course a classic look and available in a variety of colours and finishes. Bricks blend nicely with most settings and provide you with the opportunity to design/arrange them in a variety of ways to bring your Ottawa hardscaping a special touch.  Brick pavers are not as porous as other materials and therefor stain less.

Poured concrete
The most basic material for Ottawa hardscaping, it can even be used by do-it-yourselfers.  Zoryk’s can help spruce this Ottawa hardscaping option up by providing colour-bonding elements.  Zoryk’s can also provide stamped concrete to give your patio, etc. some sizzle.

Concrete pavers
An extremely popular option as concrete pavers come in a huge variety of shapes and styles.  There are options that even simulate the look and feel of natural stone.  These pavers are stronger than bricks and provides your Ottawa hardscaping with an interlocking surface.

Stone
Perhaps the must stunning (depending on your taste), but definitely the most rugged look for pavers. Natural stone comes in a wide range of colours and designs as nature is a wondrous source for Ottawa hardscaping materials.

Gravel
Gravel is the best option for the price-conscious. It is great for a “start” to your Ottawa hardscaping project as you can place future options over this base.

Tiles
Outdoor tiles come in a wide variety of sizes, shapes, and colours.

Zoryk’s is well-versed in using all of these materials in Ottawa hardscaping projects. We would welcome the opportunity to sit down with you to discuss your options.
